Hi, my name is K. I go to Wellington College International Shanghai, studying for the IB diploma. I consider myself a humanities student, which is why I applied for History or Business major for my universities, including Brown, UCLA, USC Marshall, Cambridge, and LSE, from which I received offers.

 

I discovered CEDCA through a friend, and after meeting with several agencies, my mom and I agreed that CEDCA was the one we could trust with this important journey.

For me, the areas in which CEDCA was most helpful were college selection, essays, and interview preparation. 

 

Being very busy with IB work and SAT prep, I had very little time to sift through rankings in search of colleges that fit me. After informing CEDCA of the characteristics I wanted in universities, I received a filtered list of potential colleges, which I could then research in-depth on my own.

 

As for all the essays involved in the application process, I had no idea how to structure them or what best to include. It was very helpful, therefore, to have several editors commenting on them and giving advice.

 

As for interviews, I had enough practice with the help of CEDCA that I felt I understood what to expect when going into an Ivy league interview, and had prepared responses beforehand.

 

对于我来说，学美对我帮助最大的方面是院校选择，文书写作和面试辅导。

由于忙于准备IB课程和SAT考试，因此我几乎没有时间筛选排名去寻找合适自己的院校。在告诉学美顾问我对院校的要求后，我收到了一份经过筛选的潜在选校名单，借此我可以自己进行更加深入的院校研究和选择。

 

对于申请过程中涉及的所有文书题目，我不知道该如何组织它们或者最好包括什么。因此，拥有几位文书老师对这些文书题目发表见解并提出建议是非常有帮助的。

对于面试，我在学美的帮助下进行了足够的练习，因此已经了解了进入常春藤联盟面试该有的期待，并且提前准备了应对回答。

坦率沟通是最有效的沟通方式

 

Funnily enough, I think my ability to withstand honest criticism of my work improved. The teachers editing my application essays were very frank in their praise or critique, which was the most efficient way to go about the process, and which made me realize that I shouldn’t feel disheartened by it.

 

有趣的是，我觉得自己承受真诚批评的能力提高了。修改我申请文书的老师们对我的赞扬和批评都非常坦率，这是这个过程中最有效的方式，并且这让我意识到我不该为这些感到沮丧。

I think one of the most potent memories I have of my cooperation with CEDCA was the hope I felt after one meeting. I had been very worried about my scores and extracurricular, but we had worked out a plan and suddenly I felt that everything was possible. 

 

I think the most valuable support I received was in the sphere of essays. I applied for 22 US universities, and that required large volumes of written work, which I don’t believe I would have had the ability or motivation to edit all on my own. 

 

我对我们合作最深刻的记忆之一是在一次辅导后感受到的希望。我当时很担心我的硬性指标和课外活动，但是在我们制定出了一份计划以后，它让我突然觉得一切都是有可能的。

我认为我得到的最有价值的支持是在文书写作方面。我申请了22所美国大学，而这需要大量的文书写作工作，我不相信自己当时会有能力或动力，来独自写作和编辑所有文书内容。

 

英美双申需要特别注意：提前制定时间表

 

To the students applying next year, I just want to say: believe in yourself, don’t be afraid to try even when the percentages are daunting. If you are applying for the US, start planning early, and remember that SATs and other scores are never deal-breakers. I had an SAT score of 1460, despite retaking it four times, but everything worked out fine in the end. Also, if you are considering applying both UK and US, it is important to work out the timelines beforehand; you don’t want to have your Oxbridge interview or exam to clash with important days for your US application. 对于明年申请的学生，我只想说：相信自己，即使录取率低得令人畏惧，也不要害怕尝试。如果你申请的是美本，那么就要尽早开始计划，并且要记住SAT和其他硬性指标并不是阻挡你的因素。我的SAT成绩是1460分，尽管重考了四次，但最后一切得到了不错的结果。此外，如果你考虑同时申请英国和美国的学校，那么提前制定出时间表是很重要的；你肯定不希望你的牛剑面试或考试与你美本申请的重要日期发生冲突。祝你们好运！
